Kervens B. Bastien, better known by his stage name BasKerBen, is a recording artist, songwriter, actor, graphic designer, and videographer from Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Baskerben made his musical debut with a gospel group called Ultimate 3 accompanied by his cousin Spencer Brutus and his sister Dee Bastien in 2010. A year later, the group went on their separate ways, which prompted Baskerben to launch a solo career. However, Baskerben put his musical career on a hiatus to pursue his college education, though it did not take long before he was back in the studio.
In December 2012, BasKerBen made his first appearance to the public at an annual Christmas party and was well-received. The following month, he released his first single “Rider” with well-known Haitian MC Keed Coulgi’s participation. In March 2013, Baskerben rose to fame after the release of his commercial single and video “Cicatrice,” which was an enormous success. It was a hit on various YouTube channels and radio stations. His second video “Next To You” was released in August 2013 and streamed on Trace TV in Europe.
On June 16, 2017, BasKerBen released his first solo album titled “16,” which was exclusively produced by Spencer Brutus at Traktion Recording Studio. “16” is a mix of Konpa, Zouk, Kizomba, and Rap. The album debuted at number No. 69 on iTunes’ Top 200 World Charts then moved up the ladder to No. 19 garnering 447 equivalent album units in its first week, according to Tunecore. “16,” which features artists such as Steves J. Bryan, Amir Odist, and The Jann Band was streamed more than 10,000 times worldwide within the first week of its release. The album has also garnered critical acclaim, with Topkreyol Magazine proclaiming it “One of the best records so far this year”.
Baskerben currently resides in Jacksonville, FL. When he is not in the studio, Baskerben enjoys spending time with his beautiful daughter who is his inspiration.
